The Number 23…eerily close to a 23 (out of 100) Rating
Does anyone else find it strange that Jim Carrey’s new film, The Number 23, is about one bad review away from having a score of 23 (out of 100) on metacritic?
Metacritic is an awesome site that takes all the major reviews of films (and music, DVDs, books, video games) and uses them to compile a meta-score out of 100. It’s similar to Rotten Tomatoes but I think a little more selective with their reviewers.
Right now The Number 23 stands at a meta-score of 25, and given that almost all the reviews are negative, I say there is a pretty good change it’ll hit the magic 23 at some point.
I knew this movie would be bad when the best way I could describe the trailer was: “The colorized, commercialized version of Pi…with Ace Ventura.”
Maybe New Line should use that in their marketing: ‘The Number 23, we’re so dedicated to this movie’s realism that we made it bad enough to ensure it got a 23 on Metacritic’.
