The Ministry of Propaganda (aka Microsoft)

I’m not going to say too much about the whole Microsoft Transparency situation right now as I just got my issue of Wired and want to read that entire article first.

But I will say that based on what I’ve heard so far, I can’t help but wonder what on Earth Microsoft is doing? My initial reaction is that this all reminds me of the kind of nonsense that we hear about members of our current government partaking in almost daily now. Microsoft seems to have a huge sense of entitlement after years in power.

They’re trying to manipulate reporters and shift content so that stories are presented in a “favorable” way to their “efforts”. Their efforts? Seriously, do they want our first born children?

I’ve noted before on this blog that sometimes I feel bad for Microsoft (in between posts bashing them). They can’t seem to get any love anymore (except for the Xbox 360 which almost doesn’t even seem associated with the rest of the company except when Bill Gates prances out on stages to demo a game he’ll clearly never play again). But with all this information coming out, I don’t feel bad for them in the least bit. What idiots.

It’s good to know that Microsoft is more interested in propaganda then actually making a decent piece of software that can speak for itself. I was already a little skeptical of the reports of Vista selling well since I personally know no one who has bought it. Now I’m almost sure that it is not true.

Microsoft probably sent the copyroom boy over to Reuters and had him hold a gun to the head of a reporter’s children as his cautiously typed how Vista sales are doubling those of XP.
