Ballhype – Social Sports Site Done Right

I just got finished writing up my review on Pronet Advertising of the new social media sports site, Ballhype, which launched to the public about an hour ago.

I got to be part of the closed beta test of the site this weekend and it’s definitely a pretty cool service. While it looks a lot like Digg, it goes much deeper and is solely focused on sports.

I’ve obviously been pleading for someone to come up with a alternative to ESPN.com for months now, and Ballhype could be my new one stop-shop for sports news if it catches on. They still obviously include stories from ESPN.com and CNNSI.com but they also automatically scour over 1,600 other sports sites/blogs to get news for the community to vote on and discuss.

I also like the very simple game picker, where you predict the outcome of games with one click on the team you think will win. All of your user statistics are compiled and shown on your profile. There is also a Top User list old-Digg style.

Feel free to add me as a friend.

Find my full review on Pronet Advertising here, as well as more on the service at TechCrunch, louisgray.com, and Ballhype’s blog.
