Hillary Gets Her Southern Accent On

I cannot stand when people start speaking in fake accents depending on the type of people they are around. I hated it when Carson Daly used to do it on TRL, hate it when Tyra Banks does it at the drop of a hat, and I REALLY hate it when politicians do it to shill for votes.

Here is a great example of Hillary Clinton “rediscovering” her southern roots after spending the past 15 years talking with basically no accent while in Washington and New York. Do you think that is how she spoke during her campaign to run for Senator from the state of New York?

Does Hillary not have enough confidence in the words she is saying to feel comfortable saying them in her own voice?

I don't get why Hillary does dumb things like this-- is she trying to make herself completely unappealing to the electorate?

Well, maybe, yes. Considering that she's been about as solid a supporter of the Iraq War among anyone from either side of the aisle, is now pushing for war against Syria and Iran, is a corporatist sycophant who hates organized labor and favors outsourcing, who favors a flag-burning amendment-- could Hillary possibly do anything else to enrage her base even more?

I've been active in local Democratic city council committees, and most people I talk to won't vote for Hillary, period-- that means not in the primaries, and not in the general election, either. While they don't like Rudolph Giuliani much, I guess, they see him as tolerable (in comparison to a dolt like George W. Bush, Sam Brownback, George Allen or James Inhofe). Also, since Democrats control Congress, Giuliani would be checked anyway-- IOW, there's little incentive for Democrats to vote for Hillary, since the rank and file don't like her, and the alternative is at least tolerable.

As irritating as Hillary's foreign policy stands are, it's probably her domestic pro-big business, anti-worker stands that are pissing people off more than anything else.

American workers are being exploited like dishrags these days, pushed to work 100 hour weeks for diminishing pay and decreasing benefits, then laid off like chattel despite their efforts. There has never been a more important moment for organized labor to step in and help check these excesses, yet people like Hillary want to reward big business further and punish labor unions even more, and encourage further outsourcing of American software jobs to India. How dumb could she possibly be?

Note that John Edwards, who is also resented for his prior Iraq War stands, isn't detested nearly as much, in part because his domestic stands on labor and business are much more humane for Americans in general. Sounds like this provides a rather obvious object lesson.
