Newsweek Jumping on the Twitter Wagon

In this week’s Newsweek magazine, Steven Levy has a column devoted to Twitter. This is definitely an indication of the service’s creep towards the mainstream.

Twitter has done a great job tackling the server issues (take note Digg) that were plaguing it after the initial huge response following SXSW (it seems by doing things like putting more time between live updates on individual streams and eliminating the time_status callback on the JavaScript badges), but how will it fair after this Newsweek article is read by the masses?

We still need some sorting options, especially for those of us with growing friend lists, but Twitter’s future is certainly looking very bright. Even if Levy can’t seem to decide if Twitter is “the next YouTube or the digital equivalent of a hula hoop.”
