Kevin Rose Secretly At Work on a Twitter-Killer?

Om Malik has the scoop that Digg founder Kevin Rose is supposedly hard at work on a new venture with Digg designer Daniel Burka and Leah Culver. This new project is thought to be some kind of new online communications tool.

Hmm…pretty vague…what do we think this could be? It’s said to be an IM-competitor which is making me lean towards my guess of a Twitter-like service.

The initial and obvious thought would be a Digg-like, Twitter-like thing – but if people are already questioning the usefulness of Twitter, they will really question the usefulness of voting on the mundane things people are saying. Instead, I’m guessing it won’t be anything related to Digg as Rose only took Burka with him from Digg to work on it.

The project will supposedly launch later this month. Stay tuned.

[UPDATE]: Tech Manifesto found Rose two years ago talking on his own blog about an instant messaging client he’d like to make. Some interesting ideas, including tagging of conversations which I really like (though you can technically do this in Google Talk now if you save your chats and tag them in Gmail)…this very well could be it (thanks Andy).
