AOL Mail Going Unlimited As Well?

Somebody better call Google, apparently they’re way late to a party – the unlimited email party. First Yahoo announced and implemented their unlimited Yahoo Mail free service (it seems to be working great, though I have yet to test the “limits” if you will), now one of everybody’s favorite Internet pinatas, AOL, is supposedly entering the unlimited realm in the coming weeks.

Also of note is that by the end of the year they plan on fully-integrating most of their services including their online storage solution Xdrive. This really means nothing to me beyond the fact that it’s yet another thing Google doesn’t yet offer (and of course another rival, Microsoft does too).

Is Google really going to let a company like AOL trump them? There have so far not even been any whispers beyond pure speculation that Gmail will go unlimited. If they don’t, they could be in the minority soon. What are they waiting for? They very likely have more storage space in their farms then either Yahoo or AOL do, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a lot more then both of them combined! Are they saving this storage for something? Are they bulking up for a Google Drive service?

Remember when Gmail’s 1GB service blew everyone away? Then the 2GB (and counting) version did? Now they’re both just other numbers that aren’t unlimited.

I must say Tae, I really like the new interface. I love the delete icon that appears next to the messages on hover.

I also really like the simply orange and gray look and the overall responsiveness of the system. Nice job.

Any word on the unlimited rumor? :)
