Camino 1.5 Released, Very Improved
Mozilla’s Mac-centric web browser Camino has just been updated to version 1.5 – I’m using it right now and loving it.
I’ve been using Camino as my primary web browser for the past month or so now after getting fed up with Firefox’s awful performance on the Mac. I very much liked Camino’s speed and simplicity but felt it was lacking in certain areas. Obviously as it’s not Firefox and so the Firefox plugins won’t work, but having little things like a built-in spellchecker and Keychain integration would have been very nice. Well guess what – they’re both here now.
Those aren’t the only new features; Mozilla has also included a much better pop-up blocker, added session-saving for when you accidentally close a window, and improved the tab system. They’ve also updated the rendering engine to Gecko 1.8.1, the same that Firefox 2 uses.
If you’re on a Mac and don’t mind browsing without your Firefox plugins, I highly recommend Camino.
