iTunes Hits 3 Billion as iPhone Update Nears
Someone downloaded the 3 billionth song from iTunes today, that is pretty insane considering a decade ago not too many people knew what an MP3 was as they started making their way around the Internet. Perhaps even more insane is that just six or seven years ago the thought that people would buy 3 billion songs in digital form one day was almost laughable as Napster was hitting its peak with entirely free (and illegal) downloads.
In other Apple news, Apple VP of product marketing announced today that the iPhone would be getting its first software update soon. Whether or not this update will be the “Death Star” update remains to be seen, but I’m pulling for at least iChat and if that software has some VOIP built in that would be just huge.
