PS3 Price Cut is Temporary – Sony Is Laughably Stupid

So remember all the positive buzz Sony has been getting for the past few days for the PS3 price-cut? Well throw it out the window. It seems that the price-cut was only temporary in that when Sony sells out of their existing 60gb Playstation 3s – which should happen pretty soon – they’re simply aren’t going to make anymore and thus anyone who wants to buy a PS3 is going to have to shell out the very same $599 for the 80gb PS3!

Hey Sony – you’re selling units now for one reason – they’re cheaper. No one really cares what you talked about at E3, you still have no system-selling games out, you simply saw an uptick in sales because you cut $100 of your price. When the $499 units sell out guess what is going to happen? The same thing that been happening the past 9 months – a whole lot of people not buying your product.

I mean this move is just absolutely comical. So comical that I would never believe it if it weren’t from the horse’s ass – er, Sony President’s mouth.

What has two thumbs and won’t be buying a PS3 now out of sheer principle? This guy.

@ed - I was actually exactly right. Sony implemented that temporary price cut, realized it was stupid and a couple months later put a permanent one in place.

from the moment the PS3 launched I've been very clear, it was too expensive and it would fail until they lowered the price. that is EXACTLY what happened on both counts.

Sony, last generations completely and utterly dominant console champion with the PS3 fell to a distant 3rd place this round. They will come back to 2nd place now by the end of this year - why? Price cut, just as I said.
