Finally! Search Crawls to Google Reader

Ask and ye shall receive apparently. Yesterday I wrote about a nice little update to Google Reader that replaced the near-meaningless (100+) unread stories with an actual number – at the end I asked for one big thing missing, search – today is the BIG update. Finally – and I do mean finally when you consider that Google is first and foremost a search company – Google has added a search feature to Google Reader!

This is a feature that could end up being worth the wait though as it’s more than just a simple cover-all-bases search, you can drill down and search in specific folders AND specific feeds – as well as shared and starred items and you might imagine.

Thank you Google, I think writing this blog will now be a whole lot easier without having to specifically remember which of my 10,000,000 starred items I wanted to reference.

Now I would just like to see some small improvements to the tagging system and some Googler Reader-wide stats on starred and shared items, and you will have officially graduated to becoming my new homepage.

This looks great of course, but did you notice your embedded "Shared Items" died as a result of the upgrade? Mine are gone as well.
