Yahoo has finally gotten around to fully merging MyBlogLog accounts with the standard Yahoo account, but this makes me wonder about Yahoo’s strategy for its purchases going forward. Aside from MyBlogLog, the other two Yahoo noteworthy service purchases that come to mind are Flickr and Upcoming. Both have now been integrated under the Yahoo umbrella, but unlike Google where purchases become clear Google products, these Yahoo purchases only have slight hints of their parent.

The main front page usually have some kind of ‘a Yahoo service’ notation, but try getting around the Yahoo network to another service from them, you pretty much can’t. Sure MyBlogLog offers some Flickr integration, but it also offers Twitter integration, a company which they have nothing to do with. I’m certainly all for allowing these companies to have their own autonomy, but I think it would be in Yahoo’s best interest to tie them together better on the macro scale.
