Google Gets Voyeuristic, Shows the World Some Hardcore Pornography in Real Time

Last month Google introduced Blogger Play – a site that streams all users’ photo uploads to their blogging site, Blogger, in real time. It’s interesting, not very useful, and extremely voyeuristic. Now they’re launching a widget for it so everyone can put it on their iGoogle homepage – why is Google turning into that creepy guy who looks at other people’s personal photos all of sudden?

While it is a interesting way to find new blogs, I still find it odd that Google is promoting this so heavily. If anything it seems like quite a few users would have problems with their images constantly being streamed in real time – if they even knew such a site existed (which no doubt the majority have no clue).

In this situation there seems to be a pretty fine like between crowd-sourced art (which this appears to be), and personal privacy. Yes, you can set your blog to be private, but a lot of people either don’t know how, or don’t want their blog completely private, they just don’t want everyone watching as they upload pictures to it all the time.

Way to be creepy Google.

…Not to mention the fact that I’ve already seen 2 hardcore pornographic images stream by on it now – and I’ve only been watching for about three minutes. You might want to start rethinking this tool Google…
