Tomorrow Microsoft is launching the second iteration of its portably music player, the Zune as the aptyly-named Zune 2. I hope for Microsoft’s sake that it’s a hell of a lot better than the Zune 1 which managed to muster only 3% of the market despite launching as the “iPod Killer”.

Microsoft does seem to be taking a step in the right direction as word is that the new Zunes will include a flash-based variety – hardly groundbreaking, but obviously where the market is heading as Apple already has a 16 GB flash-based player in the iPod Touch.

The most important question in my mind is if Microsoft will bring back the shit-brown color that they launched Zune 1 with. For all their faults, I think Microsoft might be hands down the worst company at choosing colors for their products. Just look at the new Xbox 360 controllers. They look like cheap baby shower gifts. The Xbox 360 controller is in my opinion the finest gaming controller ever made, why would Microsoft emasculate them like that?

I fully expect a Puce Zune 2.
