Bloggers Getting $40 For Each Amazon Kindle Sold Through Their Sites? Subscription Royalty Fees Too?
According to Robert Scoble, he received an email from Amazon indicating that if a blogger puts a link on their site to the Kindle page on Amazon and if someone who clicks on that link buys the device, that blogger will receive $40 from the sale. This will not increase the price any to the consumer ($399), it’s simply a referral bonus from Amazon.
If I’m reading Scoble’s post correctly it also looks that if he’ll get paid if you buy a subscription to his blog on your Kindle. There has been much controversy over having to pay a fee to access blogs that are normally free on the Internet, but apparently Amazon is also paying 30% of that fee to the bloggers who sites they use (no, sadly, I have not been contacted about such a deal).
Read more about the Kindle from Amazon’s PR. Boing Boing also has 15 interesting things about the device (apparently you can browse to blogs for free, the subscription fee is for subscribing to an RSS feed – which is even more ridiculous).
