Peter Jackson To Helm Two Hobbit Films In 3D?
Time for more Peter Jackson directing ‘The Hobbit’ rumors. This site claims to have two sources claiming to be “100% sure” this is happening – which means nothing, but they do add some interesting tidbits. First, they want to break up the book into two films (which I assume would be shot at the same time like The Lord of the Rings trilogy) and more importantly, that they will be shot in 3D!
While rumors of a resolution between Jackson and New Line first started appearing in August, and word they were thinking about making two films out of the single book ‘The Hobbit’ have also been around, this is the first we’ve heard about 3D. They even go further to suggest that the entirely of The Lord of the Rings trilogy will be converted into 3D as well and released between 2012 and 2014 – which seems way too far off to have much credibility – though George Lucas has been talking about this for all the Star Wars films as well for years now.
If true, this would further add weight to the idea that 3D is being looked at seriously by Hollywood as a means to save the movie-going experience – something I wrote about 6 months ago.
