AT&T Now Means Business with the iPhone, Expensive Business

AT&T finally got around to rolling out business plans for the iPhone, but what’s odd is that the data plans are significantly more money than the same exact service that residential customers get – $25 a month more to be exact. But then when you read the fine print you’ll see that AT&T is currently offering a $25 a month discount between now a the end of 2008 to make that difference moot.

The big news may be for international travelers who now have the option to buy Data Global Plans. At $24.99 and $59.99 a month you’ll get either 20 MB or 50 MB of usage within 29 countries – which is an outrageously awful deal. Still, if you’re traveling and don’t want to have to switch phones and don’t plan on using it that much I guess it could be workable.

It was pretty remarkable how fast the iPhone was growing in the smart phone market before it had any sort of business plans. It’ll be interesting to see if it’s share grows faster now or if the business folk still push it aside preferring their physical keyboards.
