Penryn-Based MacBook Pros with Multi-Touch Trackpads Said To Be Close
While it’s hardly surprising that Apple would be planning on implementing their new multi-touch trackpads found now in the MacBook Air in their higher-end machines, it appears this should be happening fairly soon with the MacBook Pro.
AppleInsider has learned that Apple had initially wanted to announce the new trackpads in the MBP along with an update to the the new Intel Penryn-based Core 2 Duo processors at MacWorld, but held them back to make sure they were able to have an ample supply of the trackpads for the big announcement at the event, the MacBook Air.
These new MacBook Pros appear to be exactly what I’ve been waiting for before an upgrade: the multi-touch trackpad, 2.5 – 2.6 GHz Penryn Core 2 Duo processors, 6 MB Level 2 Cache, and the possibility of almost an hour-longer battery life thanks to the new chips. Sold.
They also claim that the multi-touch trackpads will eventually find their way across the entirity of the mobile line before the end of the year, which of course means an update to the regular MacBook coming at some point obviously.
