A Midsummer Night’s Dream: 3G iPhone Mid-Year?
It’s been like, a few weeks since the last 3G iPhone rumor, which is just unacceptable in this day and age. Luckily today we have a new one – UBS is stating that we can expect a 3G iPhone launch by mid-year AppleInsider reports.
While this is hardly new news – others have been suggesting this time-table for months – UBS’ checks with German chipmaker Infineon indicate the company is ramping up its efforts to provide a HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access) solution for Apple which would certainly seem to indicate 3G.
This ramp-up is taking place in the 2nd quarter of the year, meaning we could see a 3G iPhone in the summer. I’m still betting on late-summer/early fall. The SDK roll-out, expected to be announced next week (but perhaps not yet launched), should hold folks over.
