The Pink Lives On In Google Docs, More Holiday Themes To Come?
Those fortunate enough – or unfortunate enough as case may be – to use Google Docs on Valentine’s Day yesterday were greeted with a pink version of the site, complete with hearts replacing stars, that I dubbed “hideously wonderful“. Well if you actually liked that version, the Google Docs Blog has great news for you – you can use it all year round at the URL: http://docs.google.com/?holiday=vday.
They did leave the opt-out clause of “or at least for a while” in the post while noting just how divisive the color change was among users. Naturally you’d think we can expect more of this type of thing from Google for future holidays – and you’d be right. Utilizing their new forms feature they ask you to answer the following questions:
- What was your first reaction on seeing the pink Docs Home on February 14th?
- How frequently should Google Docs celebrate holidays via creative Docs Home dressing?
- Which holidays should we celebrate?
They also throw in a couple meaningful upcoming feature questions for good measure – which sound very nice.
I fully expect to see a green skin in time for St. Patrick’s Day next month (I also suggested a Take-Your-Daughter-To-Work Day theme).
