QuickOrder on the iPhone, a Match Made in Starbucks

A couple months ago there was talk about Apple working to create a new digital way to place orders via their devices in fast food restaurants and cafes – now we have a beautiful proof of concept to show what such a process could look like in Starbucks.

The QuickOrder application
created by GENOCO (Phil Lu) could be a true glimpse into the future. Anyone who has used an iPhone or iPod Touch will immediately realize just how genius and wonderfully simple this process could be by looking at the screenshots and walk-through.

Using such a system not only could you select the drink you wanted and choose the size, but you could pick the type of milk used, ask for cream, and write your own notes to let the barista know exactly how you like your coffee – all without getting up. Oh yes, and of course you can pay right from your phone as well.

This could be the most interesting part of the whole concept as QuickOrder appears to utilize Semacode to complete purchases. These small codes that utilize cellphone cameras to complete functions have also caught the eye of Google recently.

When is that Apple event to launch the iPhone SDK? I want this application right now.
