While Apple may have decided not to include Safari yet on the Apple TV, one developer has taken matters into his own hands and done just that – creating a ‘Safari HD’ that works on the Apple TV. While I’ve been wavering back and forth about buying an Apple TV, if this hack is relatively easy to install and works, I think I will definitely get one – perhaps Apple should take note of that.

I find it a bit odd that Apple, a company that makes its own web browser, would not include it in the Apple TV. Both Sony’s Playstation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii offer web browsers on their machines for people to use on their home TVs, yet Apple and Microsoft – another browser maker – do not. I understand that Apple wants to control content and if you could say, access Hulu from your Apple TV, you might be less inclined to purchase a TV show through the iTunes store, but come on.

I would expect Apple to add a version of Safari to the Apple TV at some point this year – especially if this hack takes off and people start demanding it.
