The AP is officially re-branded as OMD: "Old Media Douchebags"

When I first heard that the Associated Press was threatening to sue bloggers who quoted their content, I thought it was almost too stupid to comment on. I mean, as many have pointed out, the hypocrisy runs too deep for such an idea to have any merit whatsoever.

I also knew that sooner rather than later they would be tripped up doing the exact same thing again after bitching about it. I just didn’t think they would be this stupid.

In a story about the complaints leveled against them by bloggers, the AP pulls a quote by TechCrunch’s Mike Arrington from a post he wrote. That is the same damn thing they are trying to sue bloggers for!

Arrington rightly calls them on this and is consulting his own lawyers to get his $12.50 (the amount that the AP would get under their abso-fucking-lutely ridiculous proposal to pay $12.50 for 5-25 words used in a quote.)

The AP has quoted things I’ve written before as well numerous times. I’m going to do a search for these instances and I encourage anyone else to do so as well. Lets all file a class action lawsuit.

I know there is a term “new media douchebags,” but has anyone claimed “old media douchebags” yet? Cause I think the AP just did.

I like the idea of a class action lawsuit. All those $12.50 would add up to a lot. The whole AP story is farcical. It's hard to believe that such a moronic attitude can be in place somewhere like that.

I love the coverage on the OMD's at the AP. What a lot of rubbish on their part. Who're they kidding?
