Microsoft, however, has disparaged the benchmark bragging as a “browser drag race” that it’s not interested in joining. Instead, senior product manager James Pratt has tried to steer the conversation away from JavaScript and toward a more subjective interpretation.

I would love to know what number of people that try another browser ever go back to using IE? I don’t know a single person.

IE is shit — not “the shit” — shit. Yes, it has improved since IE6, perhaps the worst product of the Internet age, but I’ve been using IE8, it still cannot render pages correctly and is a dog compared to the other browsers out there.

Microsoft may not think people care about performance in a browser, but that’s only because they’ve only ever known IE since it’s bundled with Windows. Again, I don’t know anyone who, once englightened on the other choices (as I was in 2004), has ever gone back to using IE regularly.

I haven't touched it since 2003 and have no intention of using it ever.

    I'm one.

An you try to tell the world that you are not a fanboy/bitchboy?
  • What did you switch back from? AN who came up with bitchboy?
  • I actually had to go back to IE after using Opera for years. Back in the days of IE 6 Opera wasn't displaying all the web pages correctly (especially in foreign languages) and I had to revert. I used Maxthon though which was a great solution until Firefox came and saved the day.
  • Okay, a fringe case :) But I assume you're fully off IE now right?
