Howdy, I'm MG Siegler. I’m a general partner at Google Ventures and a columnist for TechCrunch. This is where I collect things.

Some selected works. Some haikus. Some investments. Ask away.

In the past it was hard to measure traffic coming from Twitter, but now that all the Twitter links are t. co links, it must be easier to measure. What percentage of traffic comes Twitter?

Asked by Anonymous

It varies day-to-day and month-to-month, but right now, it’s about 10-15%. It’s the largest social driver of traffic here, just ahead of Facebook.

For comparison sake, Google+ is about half of Twitter right now — even though on Google+ I have 385,000 followers and on Twitter I have 67,000 followers.

  5. seldo said: Not all t.co links will produce a t.co referrer. Mobile user-agents still get HTTP 301s (which are lower latency and hence a better experience) while browsers get HTML redirects. Twitter is still being under-counted by 2x+.
