Japan Thoughts Take 3

We’re on the back 9 on the Japan trip now (coming back the 18th), so I thought I’d follow up post 1 and 2 about Japan with a third one.
- We’ve stayed in five different cities now (and have been to seven), as far as I can tell there are almost no public trashcans anywhere in Japan. Seriously, it’s a problem. Want to walk and eat? Be prepared to hold on to the wrapped/bottle/napkin/etc for a long time.
- I’ve never seen so many stores devoted to selling sweets in my life.
- I’ve never eaten so many sweets in my life.
- A lot of people indicated to us that Osaka wasn’t that great. I think Osaka is my favorite city we’ve visited.
- Have I mentioned how good the food is in Japan? We’ve had sushi four times, and two of the them are definitely the best sushi I’ve ever had. Hell, among the best food I’ve ever had, period.
- I was warned on Twitter about Fugu (Pufferfish). Not that it can kill you, but rather that it’s pretty bland. I tried it. That’s true.
- Heated toilet seats are cool, but the auto-raising seat (and the button to raise the second one) is a true modern marvel. How does the U.S. not have this?
- The “big” 200 MB package of roaming data is not nearly enough, AT&T. I’m sure we’ll be having words about this when I get home. What a rip-off.
- It’s great that Japan uses the same power adapters as the U.S. Well, the two-prong version, anyway.
- As expected, sake and tea are also much better in Japan.
