“I’ve never, ever seen a place that’s more pro-Google than this. Consider that usually, I’m having to defend myself as not being a Google fanboy, I’ve found a home where apparently, some people seem to think I chant “Death To Google” in my spare time. Twitter, Facebook are far, far more balanced. And if I write something that might seem “anti-Twitter” on Twitter or “anti-Facebook” on Facebook, the reactions are far more balanced.”
Danny Sullivan on the reaction to some of of his Google+ criticism and feedback earlier today.
I 100% agree. It’s so bad to the point that it’s off-putting. Sullivan noting that the Twitter and Facebook communities are generally not as biased is also true. But I recall one group that could be: FriendFeeders. Say something bad about FriendFeed, and it was lights out. Trolls galore. The difference is that FriendFeed wasn’t nearly as large of a topic of discussion (even on FriendFeed) as Google is on Google+. Nor was FriendFeed as big size-wise as Google+ already is.
I genuinely think this is going to become a problem for Google+. The masses are asses. And when you give them perhaps the perfect tool to be asses in realtime, it will amplify the effect.
Google+ risks becoming a place for just those who really like Google, and only want to talk about Google. In other words, it could become a really cool Google forum.
