In case you ever need bail money. Love, Steve.

Stephen King, in a letter to Frank Darabont, the director of The Shawshank Redemption.

Darabont had bought the rights to the story from King in the 1980s for $5,000. After the film became a success, King sent the un-cashed check back to Darabont with the note.

Overall, a great read about the film, which endures.
