Following up, Harry Potter made $168.55 million this weekend, a full $10 million ahead of the previous record holder, The Dark Knight. 

That’s insane — but again, adjusted for inflation, The Dark Knight would still hold the title. And other films before that would be higher too. They really need to start reporting tickets sold, not money made. They never will, but they should. 

$92.1 million — on Friday alone.

I typically hate looking at box office numbers in terms of dollars because they’re more or less meaningless in historical context due to inflation and faster-rising ticket prices. Tell me how many people went to the move, not how much it made. But wow, that number is insane.
